As we prepare for the summer months, I’d like to update you on our church’s current financial climate. With about 6 weeks left in the 2014-15 fiscal year, we project that if our present trends continue, we will finish the year with a deficit of $50,000. Obviously, we desire is to finish the year with a balanced budget, or better yet, a surplus. Our staff has been conservative keeping expenses below budget, but our giving is lagging behind.

This is in part a seasonal trend for our church, as giving typically lowers with many of our community traveling or transitioning in the summer season. We also recognize that some people may have reallocated a portion of their regular tithes/offerings for the general operations budget toward the For the City initiative. But, our church’s ongoing ministry is funded entirely by the church community practicing regular, joyful, and generous giving to fund Liberti’s mission. It’s critical for everyone who’s a Christian and worships at Liberti - people like you and I - to partner financially with the ongoing ministry of the church, so that our ministry can continue and expand without a hitch. We are committed to finishing the year “in the black” so that we can be poised for the ministry opportunities ahead of us in the coming year.

As an organization, we cherish your financial partnership as we aspire together to accomplish our mission as a church. We certainly do not want to cut our ministries or staffing, but that would be a necessary course if our giving does not support the budget, which would greatly impede our ability to carry out the mission that Jesus has called us to in Center City and on the Main Line. Thus, I am appealing to you to join us in prayer and in working together to eliminate this deficit.

How can you help?

We ask that you consider partnering with us in the following ways...

First, join us praying with a hope-filled faith that God will provide the finances necessary for what He desires to do in and through Liberti Church. Pray also that God will continue to use Liberti to express his love, grace, and generosity in our communities and across the world!

Second, consider how you can respond financially. Our church’s ministry cannot happen
without people like you who invest their time, talents and finances. Prayerfully consider the role you will play in helping us finish the year strong. If you call yourself a Christian and call Liberti your church home, but have not yet begun the practice of giving joyfully, generously, and regularly to the church, then now is a great time to start! And even if you’ve begun regularly giving, would you consider giving generously, no matter your income level, to help during this strategic time? We also invite you to listen to a sermon on the biblical value of giving, which is available here.

As a reminder, your giving to Liberti is tax deductible, and can be carried out through various means including during worship services. Click here to find a way to give to Liberti that works for your lifestyle.

Third, we invite you to join us at our annual meeting on June 14. This year, there will be two chances to attend: immediately following our Main Line service at Rosemont College, and at 6:00 PM at the First Baptist Church Building in Center City. This meeting will give you an opportunity to become more familiar with Liberti’s mission, upcoming ministry opportunities, and our operating budget for the upcoming fiscal year.

Exciting days ahead!

We are on the cusp of an exciting new ministry season! Over the summer months there will be a number of opportunities to connect into the life of the church. You can find out more about that here. This fall, our building renovation should be complete, which will enable us to launch some new ministry and mercy opportunities for Liberti and for the city. We are excited and confident that God will continue to work through us to help many more people take a first step or next step in growing with Christ and each other.

I can’t wait to be a part of this next season of Liberti Church’s life, and I hope you’ll participate with me in all the exciting work God’s doing at our church.
